The Great Arizona Puppet Theater
Puppet Exhibit: Legends of American Puppetry
The Great Arizona Puppet Theater is working with California puppet collector Alan Cook to bring examples of the wide world of puppets to Phoenix. Mr. Cook has a collection of over 3000 puppets and GAPT is hosting a rotating exhibit of his puppets in our exhibit space. Currently showing are "Legends of American Puppetry" which features an array of puppets from some of America's foremost puppeteers including Tony Sarg (known by some as the "Father of American Puppetry"), Bil Baird (most famous for his work on the movie version of "The Sound of Music") and Bob Baker. The exhibit also features some of the puppets from the original Broadway production of "Carnival" and it's film counterpart, "Lili." "Legends of American Puppetry" will be on display until approximately the end of June; Alan will then be returning to AZ to bring "A World of Animals," featuring fabulous animal puppets from countries around the world.
Bring Your Party To Our Theater
You can bring your party to our theater to enjoy one of our regularly scheduled shows. You and your guests will have the use of our birthday party area for thirty minutes before and one hour after the show.
Bring Our Theater To Your Party
Our puppeteers can bring a puppet show to your home to help celebrate your child's birthday. You'll have numerous shows to choose from, depending on your child's age, how many guests you'll have, and puppeteer availability. All shows must be held inside and requires a space of approximately 8 feet wide, 4 feet deep, and 7 feet tall (about the size of a large home entertainment center).
