Thunderbird Pools & Spas was just a dream. It all started in 1984; I was a young man and needed a job to support my family. A friend of mine had an opening on his Gunite crew and so my journey began. I loved working outside and building pools. I continued my career and watched how pools became more innovated and customized. Back in the early 80’s pools were very plain and simple. The only real options were diving boards and spas.

In the 90’s pebble finishes, rock waterfalls, negative edges, tables, Baja steps and all kinds of custom features rocked the industry, I loved it! In 1996, I decided to trade in my work boots for a drafting pencil and a laptop. I got a project manager position at one of the largest pool companies in the valley. I was surrounded by some of the best designers in the industry. Having an intensive background in Pool Construction, and being an artist myself, I quickly became a top salesman! I really enjoyed designing, meeting people, and being a part of the whole process. Some of my projects won very prestigious awards. I made a name for myself.

In 2001, I decided to go into management. I took a job offer from another pool company; right away I knew that this was not the place for me. I had learned so much over the years; it was time for me to go out on my own! In July of 2002, I quit my job, took my tests, received my license and opened an office. Thunderbird Pools was born!

I had one employee (me). So I had to do everything! I got to be involved in every phase of the projects start to finish. People seemed to believe in me and my abilities, so the company grew. Later that year, I met Lisa and we started dating. She was a manager at a small grocery store here in town. The business was booming and she started helping me in the office. In January of 2004, we got married, Lisa said good bye to her other job, and became the ultimate office manager.

In 2005, my brother Dustin came on board, bringing 20 years of pool construction knowledge. We sold over 100 pools and remodels! We really had arrived. The phone was ringing off the hook. I have always believed in great customer service and satisfaction. With a lot of hard work it all was paying off.

In 2006 we had a goal of 175 projects and we sold 193! We were becoming so popular in the industry that we had to have a store front and design center built. In October of 2006 we moved into our new home at 8190 W. Union Hills Drive, in Glendale. After an audit we found that 76% of our sales were from direct referrals.

We have come a long way in the last few years. Every employee of Thunderbird Pools carries my vision and passion for quality. Our ROC and BBB records are of the best in the industry. We joined APSP, and have a wonderful network of suppliers and contractors who help us everyday to be the best pool company in town. We are simple, honest, hard working, dependable and creative. Everything you would want in a pool builder is available at your request.
